D. John Miller
D. John Miller has been active in the development of commercial real estate and private equity investment for more than 30 years. He is CEO of DJM Capital Partners, Inc., which he started in San Jose, California, in 1992. Since then he has built his company to the $1 billion asset mark.
Miller is an active member of the board of the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps bring best practices, programs and technologies to public school classrooms. He is deeply committed to education and to improving the community, and sees grades 9 through 12 as transformative years for students.
Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California at Berkeley. He believes Legacy Tech can help arm high school students with the tools they will need to succeed in college, and in our ever-expanding knowledge economy.
Education is part of the legacy of Sally Pera’s family. Pera grew up on a cattle ranch in Colorado, and after her parents died, most of the family’s land was sold off, with the proceeds going to fund academic scholarships at Oklahoma State University.
Following in her parents’ footsteps, Pera partnered with Dr. Burton White of Harvard University to form the Burton White Lab School in St. Louis, a school for children from birth to age 3. Later she collaborated with a friend to raise money to purchase computers for the first computer lab at San Carlos Elementary School.
Pera is CEO of ACG Silicon Valley, an organization where corporate executives, senior managers and other leaders connect to conduct business, share knowledge and build careers. She has considerable experience on public and private boards, including tech start-ups.
Pera holds a master’s in public administration from the University of Colorado and a bachelor’s in political science and journalism from Colorado College. When Pera was asked by her friend D. John Miller to help start a STEAM-focused high school in Silicon Valley, she enthusiastically accepted the challenge.
